It Takes a Village

On this episode of Canine Connection, Teena Patel is joined by the entire team at Doglando to discuss how it takes a village to encourage dogs to be dogs.

Our approach to our hiring process, or what method we use in recruiting people in our team, has evolved over the years and continues to do so. With each person we have brought on our team, no matter their length of commitment to Doglando, we learn and make revisions to who we feel is an exceptional candidate. And here’s the important thing — it’s not about the method and the “how do we recruit.” It’s about coming into contact with all the people who have ever come across Doglando, again regardless of how long they stay with the team. It’s about what we have had to learn about ourselves as individuals. Each person we have to ask how they help move us forward. We ask ourselves how does this person, and all the people that are currently at Doglando, how do they bring our strengths out? It’s not to say that someone may not work out, but how did they work for us? That’s what we’re looking to address.

I think it’s a very faulty idea to say that a person doesn’t work out for your company. We don’t speak about dogs that way. We talk about every dog having the ability to succeed if their conditions are right. So much so that we are looking to assess if we are in the right conditions where we can continue to flourish and grow and succeed because of you. You moved us forward, and, as a result, you were also able to move forward. That’s a huge part of this constant learning journey that we are on with every new person that joins our team. It is such a dynamic process because the team we had last year, and the year before even, is constantly evolving. It’s constantly changing, and we’re constantly learning about us.
